Natalie Maria Cole (February 6, 1950 – December 31, 2015)
Natalie is the daughter of crooner Nat King Cole and former Duke Ellington Orchestra
singer Maria Hawkins Ellington. She was born at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los
Angeles and raised in the affluent Hancock Park district of Los Angeles. Her paternal
uncle is Atlanta’s own Freddy Cole. Natalie won nine Grammy awards and recorded
