This ain't Texas (woo), it's the ATL, and it's Opening Night.(July 10, 2025 - Atlanta, GA) Opening night in the ATL, Beyoncé Cowboy Carter fans showed up and showed out. They laid their cards down and stuck around for three hours of a dazzling performance filled with music, slamming costumes, inventive choreography and powerful storytelling. Opening night was a "real life boogie and a real life hoedown" and fans definitely took it to the floor, all three hours. The sold out concert was a high energy experience from beginning to end with a good mix of old and new material, which was great for some of us who may not have been up to speed on some of the newer material. I was definitely in need of "Freedom" and "Protector" in these trying times. As an official instagram internet auntie of Rumi and "Manager" Blue, I was delighted to see the little darlings join Mama Bey on stage. (Don't worry Sir, I got you too:) It's truly my favorite moments in the show, Blue Ivy showcasing her awesome dancing skill and Rumi smiling and cuddling up to her mom as she sings "Protector". It's particularly relevant to me, because the first time I ever saw Beyoncé and photographed her, she and her "Protector" ( Mama Tina) were making their entrance to the 2003 Trumpet Awards in Atlanta. I just happened to snap a photo as they entered the building. During the evening, she was joined by Kelly, Michelle and LENNY KRAVITZ. I photographed them together. (What's really crazy is that I wasn't as familiar with Lenny at the time. I treasured the photo even more when I became "woke:) So, here we are twenty two years later with Beyoncé performing "Protector" to her babies and I suspect "Grand" Protector was near. It's truly a pleasant and heartwarming moment each and every time, Rumi is such a ray of light.
Anyway, I really can't say enough about the Cowboy Carter concert. It more than met my expectations, Rumi smiling face snuggling up to Beyonce, a dazzling performance and interacting with a wonderfully diverse group of warm and friendly fans. Just what we need in 2025. Cowboy Carter Opening Night Instagram Posts:
